Water Tower Inspection
8/8/2025
Sorry I didn't get this posted sooner. The inspection and any necessary repairs to the water tower had to be postponed due to a water main break. The break has been fixed and the work on the water tower will begin next week (week of Aug. 11). Again, please conserve water and refrain from water lawns as the water tower will need to be drained. I will be sure and let you know when work is completed and the water tower is back in use. Thank you for your cooperation.

New Playground Mulch
7/26/2025
The City of Bazine has purchased Playground Safe rubber mulch (made from "virgin" rubber not recycled tires). The mulch will be delivered on Monday. We are asking for volunteers to help our City Superintendent, Richard Hall get the playground area prepared & then install the new mulch. We are wanting to get it all done before the Bazine Picnic. If you are willing & able to volunteer (probably in the evenings & next weekend) please text or call me at 785-398-1260 with your name & contact information. We are also asking for donations to help with the cost of the mulch. It is costing a little over $13,000, but has a 20 year warranty & is safer & cleaner than wood or recycled tire mulch. I am planning on getting a plaque to put up at the playground to honor those who donate. We would like to thank the Bazine Methodist Church for their generous donation. Every donation is sincerely appreciated. We want the playground to be a place where kids are able to play & be safe.

Gas Line Damaged
1/16/2025
A main gas line has been damaged by construction crew. Atmos Energy crews are in route to repair the damage as soon as possible. Gas service has had to be shut off to the whole city of Bazine. Try to keep doors and windows to your homes shut as much as possible to retain the heat in your home. Service will probably not be restored until later tonight or tomorrow. As soon as it is restored, crews will come around to homes to see if you need them to relight your appliances or furnace. I will try to keep you posted with news on this website or the City of Bazine FaceBook page as I receive news from Atmos. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Gas service update 11:45 pm
1/16/2025
Think Atmos crews will be quitting for the night about midnight. But sounds like they plan to be back by around 6 am to try & catch as many of you as they can before you go to work. Sorry if they haven't got your service back on but they are working as quickly as possible.
Gas Service Update 7:00 PM
1/16/2025
Atmos Energy is hoping to have the line repaired within the hour. After the line is replaced they will need to purge the system which will take a couple of hours. Crews will have to turn off each individual meter. After the system is purged, they will have to go house to house and will need to make contact with someone at the home (someone over 18) in order to turn the meter back on. And they will relight pilots as necessary. They may not be able to get to every home this evening but will continue restoring service tomorrow. If you are available to have your service restored tonight, please turn on your porch light so the crews will know someone is available. If they are unable to contact anyone at a home tonight or tomorrow, they will leave a door hanger with contact info so that you can make an appointment for them to come restore your service. If due to health issues you are in dire need of service or know of someone, please call or text me at (785) 398-1260 as I will try to make a priority list of people. Thank you for your cooperation. Again, please share this information with friends, family or neighbors that may not have access to this site or the city FB page.
Information regarding gas service outage
1/16/2025
If you have a working cell phone number linked to your Atmos Energy account you should have received a text message regarding the outage. Within the message is a link to their website that lets you know the process for service restoration and how it will be handled if you are not at home at time that service is ready to be restored. If you did not receive this text message, the link is http://www.atmosenergy.com/restore. Please check out the information at this link and share it with your friends, family and neighbors who may not have computer access. Thank you
Water and Sewer Rate Increase
12/31/2024
Water and Sewer Rares will be increasing beginning Jan. 1, 2025. The service charge for water will remain at $15.00 per month. The rate per 1,000 gallons will go from $4.40 to $4.50. The sewer rate for 0-3000 gallons will remain at $16.00. The rate per 1000 gallons over the minimum usage will go from $4.40 to $4.50. I will be recalculating everyones sewer rate which is calculated once a year using a 3 month average water usage during the winter months. This way you are not paying a higher sewer rate in the summer when you are watering lawns and gardens. To show the impact of the increase on you, say you use 4200 gallons and your sewer rate is calculated at the $16.00 rate: Currently your bill wiould be $65.11 (including trash fee of $15.50). In January, your bill would be $65.53, an increase of $0.42. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call at (785) 398-1260
